چکیده

Tracking of mobile objects trajectories is one of many modern applications supported by Spatiotemporal databases. Within the context of this application, queries about the present, future or past positions of the objects need to be answered. Several indexing methods have been proposed to efficiently handle such spatiotemporal queries. In the current paper, we propose a method for indexing the historic (past) positions of moving objects called XBR-tree, a quadtree-like technique that is able to handle both timestamp and window queries. Moreover, we compare experimentally this with other methods proposed in the literature for the same purpose. In particular, we compare XBR-trees with PMR-trees, structures also related to quadtrees and MV3R-trees, R-tree based structures. 2005 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.

Numerical Simulation of Flow Past Oscillating Airfoil Using Oscillation of Flow Boundary Condition

The present study is devoted to an approximate modeling for numerical simulation of flows past oscillating airfoils. In this study, it is shown that the harmonic oscillating objects can be studied by simple numerical codes that are not able to solve moving grids. Instead of using moving grid for the simulation of flowfield around an oscillating airfoil, this unsteady flow is solved on a fixed g...

Indexing moving objects: A real time approach1

Indexing moving objects usually involves a great amount of updates, caused by objects reporting their current position. In order to keep the present and past positions of the objects in secondary memory, each update introduces an I/O and this process is sometimes creating a bottleneck. In this paper we deal with the problem of minimizing the number of I/Os in such a way that queries concerning ...

Indexing Large Moving Objects from Past to Future with PCFI+-Index

Ideally, moving object databases should handle the past, current and future positions of moving objects efficiently. However, existing indexes such as SEB-Tree, SETI-Tree, 2+3R-Tree, 23RT-Tree and etc. can only provide the capability for past and current query, and the others such as TPR-Tree, and TPR*-Tree can only provide the capability for current and future query. None of them can provide a...

Indexing Mobile Objects: An Overview of Contemporary Solutions

Mobile computing emerged as a new application area due to recent advances in communication and positioning technology. As David Lomet (2002) notices, a substantial part of the conducted work refers to keeping track of the position of moving objects (automobiles, people, etc.) at any point in time. This information is very critical for decision making, and, since objects’ locations may change wi...

A Pattern-Based Predictive Indexing Method for Distributed Trajectory Databases

Recently, it has become possible to collect large amounts of trajectory data of moving objects by using sensor networks. To manage such trajectory data, we have developed a distributed trajectory database composed of a server and many sensor nodes deployed over wide areas. The server manages the trajectory data of each moving object by using indices. However, since each sensor node cannot send ...
